How TrueMegle works in a few simple steps
TrueMegle is designed to be simple. You do not need a tutorial, a long onboarding flow, or a complicated setup process.
You pick the kind of chat you want, optionally add interests, and start talking to a stranger in your browser.
Here is what the experience actually looks like from start to finish.
Step 1: Choose your room
TrueMegle supports two main experiences: video chat and text chat. Video chat uses your camera and microphone. Text chat stays written.
If you want something more personal, start with video. If you want something slower or more private, start with text.
Step 2: Add interests or preferences
Before matching, you can add interests such as music, travel, languages, sports, coding, or games. These preferences help the system look for a better match.
You can also leave this blank, but adding interests usually makes the conversation start more smoothly.
Step 3: Start the conversation
Once you enter the room, TrueMegle connects you with someone who is also waiting. The chat begins immediately.
If the match is not working for you, you can use the Skip button to move on. If the other person is breaking the rules, you can Report the chat.
Step 4: Use the controls whenever you want
Skip, Report, and Pair Block all exist to keep you in control of the experience. You do not need to justify a skip, and you do not need to keep talking just because a match started.
If you report someone, TrueMegle creates a moderation case. If the behavior is serious or repeated, the other user can face restrictions or bans.
What happens technically during the chat
If you are using video, TrueMegle uses WebRTC to connect the call peer-to-peer when possible. That means your media usually travels directly between users rather than through a recording server.
If the direct connection cannot be established, the chat can fall back to a TURN relay. Text travels over WebSocket, and session preferences help the matchmaking system work in the background.
